Welcome to the Land of smile:

Thailand (or Prathet Thai in Thai language) is a country in South-East Asia, that has had a very developed and expanding infrastructure and economy the last decades.
About 95% of it's population are Buddhists (Theravada Buddhism) and the second largest religion is Islam followed by Christianity. A majority of the muslims are living in the Southern provinces (Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, Songkhla and Satun).
The Thais are a very proud people who love their culture, their religion and their monarchy. The country was the only one, in the region, that was not colonized by the Europeans.

The climate is tropical, warm and often humid. The temperature is normally about 30 Degrees Celsius in the daytime and about 25°C in the nighttime. However in the Northern parts of the country, the temperature can go down to 10°C (!) or in exceptional cases 0°C in the nighttime, during the chilly season.
In Southern Thailand, temperatures below 20 degrees are rare, even at night time. Instead, night temperatures between 25-30 degrees are common in the South. Therefore it's nice to have a room with air conditioning or a proper functioning fan so the sleep is not disturbed by the heat.

Thailand has the last decades become a very popular tourist destination. A country that you just 'have to' visit if you enjoy traveling. The tourism has increased, but it is not hard at all to find a beach or a park where you can relax without crowds of people. As a matter of fact, it is still possible to find a beach where you can be on your own!
In Thailand you will find some of the most beautiful islands and beaches in the world. Koh Samui, Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi, Phuket, Krabi and Hua Hin are destinations that we have to mention. The scuba diving on Koh Tao and Similan island is simply world class and sports as golf, tennis, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing etc. will help You to stay in great shape, if You get bored at beach activities.
You will also find great destinations and attractions as the bridge over river Kwai, Bangkok Chinatown, trekking paths in the tropical rain forest from beautiful Chiang Mai and some of the most important buddhist temples and buddha statues in the world.
